Last Night of the Panto in Ramelton Town…
The Town Hall clock ticked past 10.30 on Saturday, the last night and the final moments of the panto - Dick Whittington. It played to full houses all week and everyone loved it. A fitting last night to mark seventy years in pantoland and there were a few memories we wanted to hear … from seven decades earlier. This is an amazing achievement and for Ramelton, the community participation, performances of a high standard and the very best of entertainment. And it was beautifully played, staged and produced, with the most amazing Children’s Scene. It was sheer magic to close off the first half. A cast of 144 in the three children’s choruses and Johnny Coonan singing ‘The Green Man’. The scene included songs, ‘Fling it here, fling it there’ ‘Lavender’s Blue Dilly, Dilly’ ‘Inch by Inch’ and the evergreen ‘Heigh Ho’ as they all sang their hearts out. And the colourscape on the stage was to die for!
