Taoiseach’s failure on unity referendum embarrassing
Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn has attacked Micheál Martin’s failure in preparing for a United Ireland during Easter commemorations in Donegal. Speaking in Fanad on Easter Monday, MacLochlainn said: “The Taoiseach’s refusal to set out timelines for a referendum on Irish unity is a disgrace and embarrassment, even to his own party. He said: “Standing here in Fanad alongside the monument to the Fanad Patriots’ I get the sense of their deeds in April 1878 and their heroism that ended landlordism in Ireland. It’s a history of people empowering themselves and to this day it continues to inspire our Republican idealism. Sinn Fein stands with the Fanad Patriots in their battle for justice and in the same way we stand alongside the people of Cuba in their struggles with America and Donald Trump.
